Came to the Lyric Ave 5 year show...you did your thing however, after listening to your CD your short time on stage did you NO justice i mean you were great but after getting your CDs you are AMAZING!!! We love Grown Folkz Bizness!!! My daughters sing Roses while doing homework or cleaning their room. They perform and yes....I said perform Black and Blue on a daily basis, have it all organized and stuff. I love the whole Cd! "Simple Man" motivates me, "The Remainz" relaxes me, "Roses" stimulates me, "You" makes me want to take a long ride windows down sunglasses on lip gloss shining and head bopping!! "Stardust" has me dazed and "Black and Blue" has me calling the kids in to sing and dance to it for me.

The highly anticipated album Grown Folks Business was definitely worth the wait. I have to come at you like T-mobile with my FAV5…
1. Justlissen f. Green Tea – The track has that classic New York hip hop beat that allows your swager to bleed through each bar. My ultimate fav! I am big on beats and bass…it’s a natural headbober. Vocals are nice and strong too, which is very important.
2. Since I Met You f. Brandon Best – Like this track cuz it has a real soothing chime and the use of the organ. Brandon Best was a perfect pick for the track. Blessing us with his smooth voice. You are displaying your versatility with track with being able to slow it down and tell a lady how special she is…Lord knows, us ladies could never get enough of that! Especially us dark skin sistas and sistas that aren’t seen as “beautiful” in the mainstream. Keep um comin’.
3. WLWM2B f. Wryte One – Like this poetically driven track cuz it allows the calming sound your voice to just magnify over the acoustics guitar. Can feel your passion with every word. Delivery is on point. Got me wishing they were selling some of those at Wal-mart…lol
4. At Stardust – Diggin this raw poem that allows me to vividly imagine that journey you describe. Like that there is no music. Good tactic!
5. You/Brooklyn Beauty – Once again I am a sucker for chimes and the piano. The hook is ever so catchy. This is an upbeat crusin’ in your car track. I think everyone can identify when you brings us back in the day.
I give the track, Simple Man, props as well for that eccentric rock twist…lot of folks aint on that.
Overall it is an awesome album could definitely listen all the way through! Great job, Kom!

....the key word is mature. Grown Folks Bizness is just that- music (using this term loosely because you are not a singer) that the grown can respect and relate to. This CD is just.....satisfying. It's all that I listened to for a week and never once did I feel the need to hear something else. You did it! You successfully managed to compile a piece of work that takes the listener there-to wherever that is. And anybody who knows KOM knows that he loves his HipHop, but it doesn't stop there. You displayed your personal growth and maturity by revealing your versatility. I was floored by the progression. GFB takes the listener from one extreme to the next; from the truest elements of Real HipHop, to Black folks' original influences in Rock, to the traditions of NeoSoul/R&B, to the essence of true Spoken Word with no music... just to cap it off with a solid Country song. I love the sample; can’t think of the guy whose song that is though...
The only issue I had is that you didn't include much, if any, of your Jamaican roots in the lyrics/words or music (cause please believe I was waiting to hear some of it). I would love to hear you compile something reminiscent of Berres, Bob, or Buju- that would definitely satisfy Ms. Bluez!!. I would've liked to have heard some jazz ( maybe tap into that inner Miles or Monk that we all possess) on the CD as well.
What I appreciate most is that you didn't limit yourself to just the HipHop and R&B audience. Many times we as poets forget that not everyone who is a fan of Spoken Word, is necessarily someone who is a fan of HipHop or R&B. Personally, I've always enjoyed Rock and Country music, and for you to deliver all of that to me is awesome. Don't get me wrong, I loves my HipHop and R&B but I need for my soundtracks to change with my moods, and your work does just that. And you stayed true to producing a responsible piece of work that adults and children can enjoy together. It provides the grit and grime that many young cats need nowadays, but it also provides the calm and collected that so many others need. Your lyrical ability and topic selection is growing as you do, and your wordplay remains uncontested. Real quick, one of my favorite lines " pick a finger between the ring and trigger if you want something to see, do not f*** wit me!" Definitely superior to the average. Again, I say - a Certified Classic!

I, like so many lucky people, had the opportunity to meet this brother after having listened to his cd only about 100 times. The music that he has put together was totally genius. It doesn't sound generic and it isn't fake! I especially like heaven in view (it took me a while to get the acronym, but to no fault of yours KOM) This cd has a mixture of flows that can keep you boppin your head or keep you feelin sexy. The cd is phenominal, I couldn't or wouldn't take it out of the cd player (until my suitemate borrowed it) and then she couldn't and wouldn't take it out of hers! I have yet to get tired of listening to it hopefully by letting schoolmates and friends have a listen, it'll bring them to a totally new, refreshing experience!! To be able to speak on different subject, but inject the same amount of passion into each one is just...pure talent. All I can say is WOW..other than that I'm speechless!

all I ever wanted was the love that wasn't there.
